Customer Testimonials

I’ve been to several vets in Ohio and now California, and I still get warm and fuzzy thoughts about this hospital. There are many vets out there, in the well reviewed ones all love animals, are friendly, and do a good job.  But this hospital is a cream of the crop, the entire staff felt like family. My dog was happy to go there every time. They handled my dog so well he never even noticed the needles.  They neutered my dog. I got him back from surgery in a good mood, and he recovered quickly with no discomfort. It was flawless. They also communicate well with the owners, so you always know what’s going on, what the plan is. Prices are fair, and they don’t pressure you to spend more money.  Animals here get the very best of care, impeccable medical treatment, with top notch bedside manner. What more is there to say? We have had Dr. Hitchcock-Smith taking care of our much loved golden retriever for over nine years. She always performs their own examinations and provides advice and how to keep our boy healthy and happy!  We have total confidence in her skills. We would recommend this practice to all animal lovers! Linda N.

I had a very hard time leaving our old vet. There was nothing wrong with them except they are a further drive. My dog Lola has now been a patient of the hospital for a year. We love them!  We met all of the doctors and technicians in all of them are amazing. They are very patient with my extremely nervous dog and will even sit on the floor with her to examine her. Now, I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. Megan O.

I wanted to thank the veterinary technician and Dr. Carlson, for their exam with my hamster Homestyle.  They made me laugh and feel comfortable and made me at ease as I was very worried about my little hamster. I appreciate all that was done that day. I would recommend this place to friends and family. Thank you once again. Amber M.

I was here for the first time recently and the experience was wonderful. I have been looking for a new vet and decided to give them a try.  First of all, the staff was very friendly and attentive. They were caring with my pup and all of them came out to greet him and he even got a treat! The vet tech was extremely kind and patient with my little excited puppy and was willing to discuss the prices as well as the services they were suggesting.  When the doctor came in to administer the shots and for the actual check up, he explained everything in detail and kept us informed as to what it was and why he was receiving each immunization.  All-around it was a pleasurable experience, and I’m officially switching vets to them now. I love this place. I met the doctors while getting treatment for my cats, and also met several very friendly assistants. My overall impression is – they are great professionals, highly qualified, very considerate, and very caring.  And they don’t overcharge (I’ve been to many clinics with my pets).  They explain the pet’s condition and treatment options very well. They beat more expensive vets that we went to when we lived in DC. Anonymous

Great experience overall! Dr. Smith was very thorough and explained everything. I felt very involved in my dogs treatment. My six-year-old soft coated Wheaton Terrier has had aggression issues with strangers since he was a puppy. Being new to the area I was reluctant to bring him to a new vet.  I am glad I did though. Dr. Smith seems to generally care. Most importantly, my dog had a great experience. Stuart S.

We have been seen by two different doctors at the hospital for annual check ups for our Great Dane, and both have provided great service to us.  Typically, our Dane has anxiety problems at the vet and does not do well if I’m not in the room, but the nurse was able to take her back for bloodwork without me and said she did great.  The doctor and the nurse spent plenty of introduction time with us, greeting our dog and helping her warm up to them, since she was visibly anxious. Our Dane was able to become the most at ease that I’ve seen her at the vet in five years, thanks to this extra effort.  The doctor listened to my concerns about a specific vaccine, took time to answer all my questions, and didn’t try to offer me any services that she didn’t think my dog needed.  I am so pleased with the service and would recommend this veterinary office to anyone. Our appointment was for our first visit and a physical exam for an elderly female beagle that we adopted from the shelter about two weeks before the visit. Both we and our dog were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by the staff.  The vet was occupied with another appointment so we waited to be taken into the exam room. The tech took the information that the shelter provided. She explained that there had been an emergency and the vet was running late. When Dr. Smith did come in, he gave full and extensive attention to our dog.  He was extremely kind and gentle with her, and she seemed quite calm with the vet and also the vet tech, despite some mild restraint for her glaucoma test.  We were completely satisfied and pleased with Dr. Smith services, he was easy-going and friendly with his patient as well as her owner. It was a great bonus to have no charge for the physical exam because we adopted her from a shelter. We know she’s going to have medical expenses related to her care and appreciate every effort to help save money. Elizabeth P.

I brought my dog and because she was waking up in the middle of the night to go outside. She previously had surgery because of eating rocks and coins and was showing the same symptoms.  Dr. Smith gave her a thorough check up and did an x-ray just to make sure she had not eaten something that was causing any blockage. She checked out just fine. Dr. Smith gave her a shot and prescribed something for her stomach and told me she would feel better fairly quickly. She bounced right back with no problem.  Someone from the hospital called the following day to check on Layla to make sure she was feeling better. This is just one example of the excellent care I have received for my dog over the last 4 1/2 years. We are fortunate to have such excellent veterinarians. I have taken both of my dogs to all of the doctors at the hospital, they are all knowledgeable and compassionate. I wouldn’t take my dogs anywhere else. Anonymous

First of all, this is the only vet within 5 miles of University Heights with “working people” business hours. They are available until 7 PM and are open Saturdays as well. They are staffed by their own staff and veterinarians, not just those hired for the day. This provides continuous care. They are so very kind to the animal. I have a grumpy cat who was urinating outside the box. They quickly did an ultrasound on Bella and found nothing wrong physically. They provided Bella with an anti-anxiety agent and things became better in the house. I cannot say enough good things about them. Anonymous
